主要成就:
1924年12月29日出生,山西省汾阳市人,大连理工大学土建学院教授,结构工程专业博士生导师,土木建筑工程专家,中国工程院院士。
曾任《土木工程学报》、《水利学报》编委;现任《国际水泥及混凝土制品》、《建筑结构学报》、《工程力学》等五种学术刊物编委;1994年起担任《亚洲混凝土模式规范》研究委员会执行常委及第1-10届国际会议委员及1996年第6届国际会议组委会主席、国家科委攀登计划-工程技术重大基础研究项目"重大土木及水利工程安全性与耐久性的基础研究"专家委员会委员;现任中国土木工程学会理事、混凝土及预应力混凝土学会理事、纤维混凝土专业委员会主任委员、结构可靠度委员会名誉委员等十多个学术职务。
曾先后20余次担任国际学术会议主席、委员,10余次应邀赴美国、瑞士、日本、捷克、新加坡、香港等地大学讲学。同时,兼任上海交通大学、浙江大学等二十五所院校的兼职教授/顾问教授/名誉教授。
参与制定我国水利、水电、港口、建筑、桥梁等专业的工程结构规范,参与解决国家"七五"、"八五"、"九五"重大工程项目中的关键技术问题。获第8届"陈嘉庚技术科学奖"、国家级科技进步一等奖1项,二等奖3项,三等奖3项和省、部级科技奖28项。培养硕士生86名,博士生68名、博士后9名、访问学者2名;专(合)著论文300余篇,主(合)编规范7本,专(合)著著作15部。

Introduction to Prof. Zhao Guofan
Professional Experiences:
Prof. Zhao Guofan was born in December 29th 1924
in ShanXi Province. He is a professor and an advisor
of doctoral candidates of the Department of Civil
Engineering, Dalian University of Technology, Dalian,
China, as well as an academician of China Academy
of Engineering,
Prof. Zhao has been the editor of "Journal
of Civil Engineering", "Journal of Hydraulic
Engineering" , "The International Journal
of Cement Composites and Light Weight Concrete",
"Journal of Building Structures" and "Engineering
Mechanics". From 1994, he is serving on an executive
member of International Committee of Concrete Model
Code for Asia, a member of international conference
from the 1st to10th, and chairperson of the 6th international
conference, and so on. Now he is more than ten academic
committees as a member, a director or chairperson,
including director of China Society of Civil Engineering,
an executive member of Prestressed Concrete Society,
chairperson of China Fiber Reinforced Concrete Association,
and a member of Structure Reliability Committee.
Prof. Zhao has been invited to give lectures at
many universities in U.S.A., Switzerland, Japan, Czechoslovakia,Singapore
and Hongkong. Also, he is an advising professor for
25 other universities and institutes in China, including
Shanghai Jiao-Tong university and Zhe Jiang university.
Prof. Zhao has participated in developing six designing
and construction codes for reinforced concrete structures
of hydraulic and harbor engineering as well as steel
fiber concrete. He has solved many key technical problems
related to National Projects in "seven-five",
"eight-five", and "nine-five".
He was awarded the 8th Tan Kah Kee Prize in Technological
Sciences(1999) and seven National Prizes of Science
and Technology(one is first-class, three items are
second-class and three items are third-class), and
18 other Prizes of Science and Technology mainly from
the Education Ministry, the Electric Power Ministry
and the Construction Ministry. He has supervised 86
master's degree students, 68 doctoral degree students,
9 postdoctorals, and 2 visited scholars. He has more
than 300 publications and 7 codes as well as 15 works.
